Mexican Restaurant

It's our honor to serve you at Ernesto's Mexican Restaurant !

Customer Testimonials

We have been going to Ernesto's for years. My favorite is the number 22 combination platter. It comes with beans, rice, tamale and enchilada. They will give you your choice of beef or chicken. My husband always chooses the platter that has the two enchiladas. He will make them beef. We are pretty picky about where we get our mexican meals at and Ernesto's has fresh ingredients and love the waitress Angie over there.

My fondest moment at Ernesto's is every time I walk in for lunch I am greeted by "Welcome back, would you guys like the usual? Two chicken enchiladas and one chicken enchilada, chicken taco?"

Good Mexican food. Try to eat there when in SGU.

G.Kemple - Florida
ernestos has super delicious chips and salsa, complimentary.
it looks a bit on the cheap side, but pff, when the food is delicious (and also cheap) who cares? it is bland mexican food, but sometimes, that is just what i'm craving. the spice in mexican food is a bit much sometimes.
anyway, ernestos resturant has the most chill, relaxed vibe of any resturants i have ever been to, and that is what keeps me coming back.
plus, the rice is just...mmm....

Branson and Amberlee's wedding we were hungry and went to Ernesto's for lunch. We had such a good time and the food was so good! The chips and salsa is the best part:)

Dang the Coca-Cola here is great!! I have always said that if a restaurant has good Coke, not watered down like some places do, people will come back. This place has some dad gum dang good Coke!

Also the food is very tasty, I got the chili verde smothered burrito, good stuff!

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant. We have never been disappointed in the high quality and best tasting food.
We moved from St. George almost 2 years ago and we keep trying to find a Mexican restaurant to compare and are always disappointed. When we travel we always arrange our schedule to stop at Ernesto's for a delicious meal.

In st. George there are so many Mexican food restaurants. It's almost overwhelming. I think I've eaten at a good handful of them now. This is definitely one I would return to. The family running the business were all very charming. We never had to ask for a refill or attention of any kind and the food was really good. Everyone at the table left happy. The portions were good and everything was really fresh.

Best Mexican food in entire Southern Utah!! Every menu selection is fab! My favorite's? Always that the salsa, chips and guacamole are kick-a** awesome and FRESHLY MADE! Their enchilada and mole' sauce is truly divine, and their rice?? Well, it is sooo good that I buy it to take home along with many other goodies :) After dinner? Fried ice cream is a MUST!! AND . . . Hey, our beloved wait staff member, Angie, always remembers even the smallest details about us and what we love best! She must actually run to serve so many of us all at once:) Definitely deserves a Five-Star Plus!!

We were visiting St. George to drop off our nephew at Dixie. We were a party of 7. We were greeted and seated by a young boy named Corbin. He took our drink orders and helped our waiter Christian the whole time. They were both excellent.  We ordered carne asada tacos and a burrito, flautas, enchiladas, chile rellenos, chicken tacos, and the carne Asada plate and everything was delicious. It was a real gem and we can't wait to go back to visit our nephew and eat at Ernesto's. From the service, to the prices, to the food, everything was excellent.

5 stars for Ernesto's Mexican Restaurant. Homemade. Authentic. Just. SO. GOOD!!

After a long day at Zion Nat'l Park, I took to Yelp for a quick sit-down dinner. So glad that Ernesto's won the rock-paper-scissors battle that I had with myself in my head.

We ordered the 5 beef taquito plate as an appetizer. They make everything. The complimentary salsa, chips, and guac!! Absolutely delicious. The taquitos were fresh and the carne was flavorful and tender (the perfect stringy-kind of beef!).

I ordered the "Quesadilla Dinner" with chicken/ served with rice and beans. It was not your typical quesadilla- it was even better!!! It was not pressed on a grill, but I think fried? It was not bready, but the perfect flakiness. A cross between a large, thin empanada and a big version of a fried chicken dumpling. Inside had chicken, cheese, onions, and tomato. Simply divine.

If you're St. George, Utah, you must try Ernesto's if you're in the mood for BOMB Mexican food.

Excellent Food!  Tried 4 different meals,  all different from your typical Mexican. But amazing taste.
4 stars is because the chips and salsa need improvement and it will be 5 stars.

Karen B- Salt Lake City, Utah
Service is a little wacky because kids are running the store but some of the dankest mexican food around. Best tamales, encheladas, chile relllenos. Dank Mole. Good beer,.

My family and I stopped here for lunch one day after a hike through Snow Canyon. It is a quaint little establishment within a strip mall of other stores, and unfortunately something that can easily be looked over. The smell upon opening the front doors is just like a grandmother's kitchen. The staff that day consisted of the owner and his young son, and both we so pleasant and attentive. The chips and salsa (complimentary) were deliciously fresh and flavorful. Each of the family ordered either a burrito or burrito combination platter, and everyone of us had to take half with us there was so much food. The refried beans were real, not canned, and perfectly cooked. I would definitely suggest this to people visiting in the area looking for some good, family style Mexican fare.

Second time eating here. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Kept our party of 15 stocked up on chips and salsa until our food arrived. Food was good, and with 15 people we we tried a lot of it.

S.L. Placer County, CA

We stopped in on a Saturday night and the food was good. The chips are not fresh and seemed like they were store bought. We had 8 people in our party and the service was great. Everybody like the food. I had an enchilada & burrito food was warm and taste good. This is not Mexican food like you'll find in the OC but it's still good food!!

Tobi U- Santa Ana. CA

This place tasted fantastic and had great prices but I couldn't give it 5 stars because the food destroyed my stomach for the following 24 hours. I got the beef enchilada with rice and beans as well as a half order of guac. It was all delicious but about two hours later made my stomach feel awful. Maybe it was just my experience. The service was great.

B.W.- Las Vegas, NV

You know it's a good place when the locals are frequenting. Tasty food, great drinks, homemade guacamole, plenty of chips and salsa, entrees served fresh and hot. Service was friendly and efficient. See you next time we're in town.

Lupe S. - Salt Lake City, Ut
We were going to go to the sports bar next door but so happy we came to Ernesto's instead. Very good refried beans but the green chili was lacking compared to NM or CO styles. The burritos, enchiladas and tamales all had good sized chunks of meat. Very friendly service. Will definitely consider coming back next time we're driving through St George.

I am just visiting St George, and felt like trying this place. There were only two reviews, but both were really good. Tried a combo with a chicken mole enchilada and a pork tamale. Excellent! It was early and I enjoyed visiting with Douglas, talking about the town, the story of his Uncle Ernesto coming to Utah and building the business, even the way bilingual education is starting to take root here. Ernesto opened this place 19 years ago, and it's a family run business, through and through. Affordable good food and a relaxing vibe.

Tom D. - St. George, Ut
This place has the best Mexican food is St George hands down! I love the atmosphere, the music, and the server was very nice. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for some awesome food!

Ethan - Fort Worth, TX
Great family-run restaurant! Owned by the same family who started the restaurant thirty years ago. Chicken enchiladas with mole, fish tacos, tamales all were great. Highly recommend...

Chris H. - Jackson Hole, WY
This dining experience was an unexpected pleasure. From the just right salsa to the enchilada and chili relleno, the food was exceptionally good.  Hot, tasty, and delivered with a quick smile from an owner, manager, waiter. We saw only one staff person, and he did a tremendous job. I would easily give five stars except that only one small napkin was offered, and the forks with which we were provided were old and bent. Old place, renovated, but seemed clean enough.

I lived in St. George for most of last year and was sick and tired of the food choices available and decided to try out Ernesto's. I am glad I did!!! The food is very good!!! You get an amazing amount of food for a very reasonable price. Everybody there is absolutely amazing and friendly!!! I've met Ernesto a few times and he is the best!!! This is definitely a spot to check out if you're in St. George or passing through.

I'm a fan. The place was clean and the service was great. All of the workers were very attentive and polite and I appreciated their efforts. The food was pretty good family Mexican food. I would go back.

YUM- We all had a chicken taco salad. The bowls are so good, deep fried and flaky. The service is very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not fancy but clean and with such good food, who cares. We would definitely go back if we are ever in the area again.

YUMMY- I can highly recommend this place. We have eaten here on two separate occasions and have enjoyed it very much both times. Prices are reasonable and the quality and portions are more than you expect. This is a great little find.

“Just Good Mexican Food!”  - I have lived here for 17 years. I always try new Mexican restaurants but none compare to Ernesto's. Service is good. Food is good. I always clean my plate there. Prices quire reasonable. I have not found anything on their menu that I would not recommend. I go there at least once a week. Great place to eat.

"better than others we tried in area" Slowly working our way thru all Mexican restaurants in St. George area. This one had the best salsa of any we tried(tasty but devoid of any heat) but did not care for the chips. They are more authentic as they are thicker like you may find in Mexico but I feel that there are 2 things that the Mexicans never mastered. Tortilla chips and Margaritas. Americans do much better on both. We had chili rellanos, beef taco and pork enchilada. Rellanos were good as was the taco and enchilada. Service was good as it should have been when there are only 4 customers in the place. Facility was tasteful and clean but worn looking. We ordered ala carte to avoid the typical rice and refried beans. It is the best we have found so far but not so good as to keep us from looking further.

St. George, Ut

Great- I have been coming here since I was a kid. Love the chips and salsa. I used to have to beg my honey to go out for Mexican until we tried the Mexican shrimp cocktail. We share one before we get our entrees every time. My husband loves the shredded beef tacos. They are fantastic. I love the Chile rellenos. The chicken enchiladas are also great. When I don't want to get a full plate I order the chicken tostada. Still very filling. You should definitely try it out. :)
